What is a soldering station?

A soldering station combines a handheld soldering iron with a separate base that controls the heat. The tip transfers heat into a joint so solder can flow around the metal surfaces. A station lets the user select a working temperature for the task. The base stays on the bench while the iron moves between joints.

A plain fixed-temperature soldering iron has no temperature setting to adjust. The Antex XS25, for example, is listed at ~370°C (fixed). Digital handheld irons offer a third option. The Pinecil V2 puts adjustable temperature control into a USB-C PD powered tool without a separate base. The choice between soldering irons and stations therefore depends partly on bench space, power access and the control needed for the work.

How this site compares soldering stations

This site compares soldering stations through published specifications and recorded prices shown side by side. The tables separate wattage, temperature range and control type so buyers can see which differences matter to their tasks. A missing figure stays missing. For example, the YIHUA 926LED-IV wattage is not published.

YIHUA and FNIRSI figures come from checks against kunkune, a UK stockist. Other brands use researched specifications and typical UK street prices. Last verified means the figures were checked at that point, rather than a promise that today's price or stock is unchanged. The review pages use the same figures as the comparison tables. These comparisons are based on published specifications, and models are not hands-on tested unless a page states otherwise.

Why trust these numbers

Specs verified against live retailer data

Wattage, temperature range and price checked directly against the stockist, not copied from an old spec sheet.

No invented testing claims

Where we haven't hands-on tested a model, the page says so. No fabricated "40 years of experience" narratives.
