Is Hakko or Weller better for a soldering station?

Last verified 2026-08-09

Both are established, well-regarded brands at similar price points (roughly £100–120), and the practical difference between the FX888D and WE1010NA is mostly ecosystem and interface rather than one being clearly superior. Hakko has a marginally longer track record and wider tip availability in electronics repair specifically; Weller's WE1010NA adds colour-coded temperature presets and password protection, which some users find more convenient. If you're not already invested in one brand's tips, either is a safe choice at that price tier.
